A camera for a selfie photo shoot?

I can’t believe I’ve had this Canon PowerShot G12 for over a decade, without realizing that it could be the perfect selfie camera.  Think “selfie photo shoot” and not just “selfie.”  It has a screen that flips and rotates, plus a self-timer function.  Check it out:

You can see the flipped screen (on the top image) and where the self-timer button is (bottom image). Just attach a tripod, and you can do your own photo shoot without assistance from anyone else!

A photo shoot with the G12

The Canon PowerShot G12 might date from the early-2010s, but it still takes great photos.  Look at this photo session I did with one of my college acquaintances way back in December 2017.  They’re not selfies, but imagine me taking selfies that look like these beautiful pictures!  It sure beats using my iPhone’s front-facing selfie camera, by a long shot:

And I’m saving (what I think is) the best picture for last:

Now if only I could find someone willing to let me use an auditorium stage for my photo shoot!  I’m planning to make a spring lookbook and I’d love to pose with a red velvet curtain like this.  Maybe I wasn’t a “theatre kid,” but I sure resonate with the theatrical and the dramatic.

G12 selfie photo shoot

So after a long time of letting my Canon PowerShot G12 collect dust, I finally got it back out yesterday (2/20/2023) to take some selfies.  I wouldn’t call these just any ordinary selfies, however.  Having a compatible tripod, plus a self-timer function on my camera, allows me to do a selfie photo shoot, without needing another person to push the camera button for me:

I think this first picture is stunning.  Maybe I could have a better facial expression and pose, but it really demonstrates the vibrancy and quality of the Canon PowerShot G12’s photos.

I had to edit this second photo, given the strong light shining on me from the left side of the picture.  These edits impart a “vintage” vibe, in my opinion.

I think I should note that this WHBM top was the first-ever item I bought from WHBM back in September 2017.  My positive first impression of WHBM’s in-store experience and customer service truly set the stage for my love of the brand.  I still have all of the WHBM items I bought from late-2017 through mid-2018 that I still wear to this day.  I didn’t buy any more WHBM from mid-2018 through December 2021 after I went back into the closet following the passing of my grandfather. I did continue to wear some of my more “androgynous” WHBM items (blazers, pants, etc.) until I came back out as transgender in December 2021.

I should receive two pairs of new ASOS DESIGN shoes today; provided that they fit, I should have everything I need to start creating my spring lookbook.  I already plan to shoot photos (using the G12) and videos (on my iPhone) at various locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  Since I plan to incorporate real flowers into the photoshoots, trying to find early-blooming flowers in February might be a little tricky; that said, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden might be worth a look.  Since spring weather is already here (today’s high temperature will be in the mid-80s!), I’m sure there will be plenty of blooms soon.  I’m also planning to return to Rainbow Vomit in Dallas.  I guess it’s time to do some location scouting, or perhaps I could just spontaneously encounter some places!
